What's Wrong with Tom Brady's Partnership with Best Buddies? Everything

Tom Brady is living proof that you can't be good at everything. And what does Tom suck at? Philanthropy. It's like he went to Trump University and learned at the foot of the master himself.

Sunday's Boston Globe reported that Tom Brady's charity, The Change the World Foundation has received $3.25 in payments from Best Buddies International, a charity that Brady has reportedly raised $46.5 million for since 2001.

What's wrong with this? Everything.

Breaking Down the Latest Cause Marketing Research [Infographic]

Marketing research firm Toluna is out with new research on what consumers really think about cause marketing - which they nicely summarized in an infographic in Adweek.

The research confirmed a lot of what I already thought was true about cause marketing, although one data point surprised me. I'm also becoming more skeptical of generational data. Are the boundaries between Baby Boomers, Gen X and Millennials really as pronounced as researchers thing they are?

On this point, at least one person agrees with me...

Ep207: Aflac's Cause Marketing is Model for Companies That Seek Purpose with Profit

Today on CauseTalk Radio, Megan and I talk to Buffy Swinehart, Senior Manager, Cause Marketing for Aflac, on the company's Duckprints campaign to fight childhood cancer.

Nonprofits, For Heaven's Sake Listen to Robert Rose!

I've been saying for years that nonprofits should focus more on content marketing. Or for as long as I've been consuming every bit of advice from Robert Rose's Content Marketing Institute (which is led by another superstar - and long-suffering Cleveland Browns fan - Joe Pulizzi), the podcast This Old Marketing, and his book Experiences.

And while I always thought Robert would advocate content marketing for nonprofits, my hunch was finally confirmed after listening to him on Nonprofit Hub Radio.

Should Nonprofits Go Back to Taking Off Their Clothes?

This is awkward.

Nearly a year ago to the day I wrote that cause marketers could learn a thing or two from Playboy's decision to go nude-less. Imagine, Playboy without nude pictures!

It appears that Playboy readers couldn't imagine it because sales slumped over the past year. The decline was so steep that Playboy announced last month that it's returning to its rakish ways. Nude pictures are back in this month's issue.

Last year I told nonprofits to cover up. Is it time to take it off again?
