Two things this week...

1. I'm super-excited to announce the second book we'll be reading in our Social Impact Book Club. It's Fanocracy by David Meerman Scott and Reiko Scott. Yep, we're reading a book on fandom - and with good reason. As the Scotts note, "Fandom isn’t just for celebrities anymore! It can be rocket fuel for any business or nonprofit that chooses to focus on inspiring and nurturing true fans."

This is the book we ALL NEED right now. Pick the book up here in either text or audio. Join the book club's Facebook group here. Finally, confirm you're coming to the next book club meeting on June 4th at 4pm ET.

2. Did you miss last week's webinar on How to Value Virtual AssetsBrittany Hill at Accelerist and Michelle Matheson at the United Way of New York City delivered a great webinar. If you’re interested in new virtual asset options, their value to corporate donors, and how to identify the right virtual event, WATCH THIS WEBINAR#Sponsor

🦠 Responding to COVID-19

1. Beer is booming during the pandemic.🍻Here are the brands you should be targeting. Not to be outdone, one UK beer brand has even brewed a special thank you beer for healthcare heroes with all proceeds donated to charities supporting healthcare workers.

2. Kroger is doing a good job navigating this crisis. They are doing round-ups at the register, they are testing employees, and they have (albeit belatedly) expanded paid sick leave. They've also doubled down on promotions to attract new customers. Check out this interview Engage for Good's David Hessekiel did with Sunny Parr, Director, The Kroger Foundation.

3. I love Oreos! ⚫️So I'm totally bummed I missed the #CookieWithACause challenge last month on TikTok that benefited Save the Children. BTW, TikTok is way up in visitors since March.

4. Now is a great time to bone up on your industry terms. Start with these 275 terms in For Momentum's  Cause Marketing Glossary#Sponsor

🤑 Marketing Your Cause

1. Facebook ads are cheap right now. They also combine nicely with email newsletters. "In the first half of April, the cost of acquiring a newsletter subscriber through Facebook fell from 75 cents to 25 cents."

2. I love how the author of this article uses Google Trends to help museums think beyond "virtual museum tours." But let's not stop there. Try using Google Trends for your own nonprofit. For example, I typed in "food banks" and drilled down and discovered that searches for "imperfect foods" are up 100% since the beginning of the pandemic. What a perfect topic for a blog post!

3. Since Boston's Artists for Humanity regularly shares its creative talent with the business community, they decided to create something for the kids for when mom and dad are on their Zoom calls!

3. Because of the pandemic, this guy is running out of skin.😳
