Two weeks ago I wrote about Maggie Keenan, a graduate of my Six Figure Cause Marketing Program and happy owner of Cause Marketing for Dummies. She’s launched a pinup program with her KFC and Dairy Queen stores in southeast Georgia that’s doing very well.
I’ve asked Maggie to stop by and update us in the comments section of this post.
Maggie was kind enough to record this interview with some of the key people involved in the program. These wonderful supporters talk about so many of the things that are important to a successful cause marketing program I just had to share it with you!
- A sincere commitment to the program’s success.
- A recognition that local businesses should support local causes.
- Each store involved in the program has a tangible goal to achieve.
- Each location has an in-store ambassador to motivate and track employee success.
- Store managers volunteered at a Salvation Army to see firsthand where the money they raise will go.
- The importance of THE ASK. Customers won’t support the program unless you ask them!
- Incentives for employees as a thank you for their efforts.

It's only been 2 1/2 weeks since the campaign launched and direct from our KFC/DQ Senior Management….we are currently at $16,787 total. That means we just passed the half way mark and still need $16,213 to hit our goal. That’s only $5404 per week. Last week we raised $7800, so we should be able to blow our goal away if everyone will stay focused and keep pushing their teams. ____One of the most motivating aspects of the campaign is the internal communication to all stores letting them all know where each one stands weekly with dollars raised. This is an excellent way to encourage motivation as no one ever wants others to know they are behind! And they have stepped up with incentives like this: "We will have a contest this week to see which manager can come up with the most creative way to promote the campaign in their restaurants. We will have a winner from Supervisor A stores, a winner from Supervisor B stores and a winner from Supervisor C stores. Each Area Supervisor gets to judge and then send me pictures from the winning store. Each winning manager will win a $50 gift card."
Great work, Maggie. Keep the reports coming in!
Once again, Great Job! KFC andn DQ raised a total of $7306 last week which puts us at $24,093 total to date!!! We only need to raise $8907 to hit our goal of $33,000. There are still 2 weeks left too.____The senior management of Hodges Management Co. that owns the stores sent out their Monday update to all store managers. They list the stores in order of $$ raised… great motivator and encourage to keep pushing toward goal. The success of this campaign really rests with the support and from the management team. They are doing an outstanding job.
Tada! The KFC/DQ went above goal and raised $33,260. A small marginal victory, but a victory! We appreciate the shout outs and look forward to a bigger campaign in the Fall.
